Three Season ATV Trail Initiative
The Story:
When the Lumsden Bridge reopened in 2023 after three years of work with the South Eastern New Brunswick Snowmobile Association (SENBSA), it reconnected more than a trail — it opened the door to a bigger vision. CCRC struck an ATV trail committee and partnered with the Albert County Trail Blazers (ACTB) Club 32 to explore a sanctioned ATV trail across lower Albert County.
A January 2024 public meeting at the Fundy Curling Club confirmed strong community support, and ACTB formally adopted the plan.
Where Things Stand:
Since a March 2024 presentation to the Village of Fundy Albert, a working group has been mapping the tentative route — submitted to Quad NB and the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure for landowner identification and review. An application is also underway with Fundy National Park to use Route 45 and Old Shepody Road as part of the system. Landowner permissions aren’t guaranteed, so the route may shift before it’s finalized — a process CCRC expects will take three to five years in total.
Why It Matters:
Once complete, this trail will add roughly 100 km of safe, sanctioned trail linking our communities — much of it shared with existing winter snowmobile routes, so summer maintenance will keep trails in better shape for SENBSA riders too. More trail users also means more funding for bridges and infrastructure, and a real draw for visitors and new local businesses alike.

SENBSA Trails
Work to develop this trail is on going; In March of 2024 a presentation was made to the Village of Fundy Albert from which a working group was developed. Their first meeting was held in May to determine next steps in preparation for presentation to the community for input, routes, etc. The “tentative” trail has been tracked and submitted to Quad NB and DTI for review, comments and landowner identification in late September. Landowner permissions are not assumed, and the tentative track may need to be altered several times before the final trail is determined. Included in this trail development is an application by Quad NB which has been submitted to Fundy National Park for the use of the 45 and Old Shepody Road as part of this trail system.
The development process is complicated and will require many ongoing conversations with various stakeholders, government departments and landowners. We estimate a three-to-five-year development timeline.
This trail system when completed will add approximately 100 km of sanctioned trail and will benefit local users by joining our communities with a safe and well-maintained trail. It will also benefit SENBSA as a significant portion of the tentative tracked path uses winter snowmobile trails. Summer maintenance will keep trails in better shape for winter snowmobile use and help contribute to funding for bridges and infrastructure because of the increased number of trail users. Once this trail is finally developed, sanctioned, and signed we know that visitors will want to come and explore our area creating exciting opportunities for both existing and new business owners alike.
As with any project, one of the first hurdles is funding. With that in mind, the CCRC and the Fundy Curling Club have agreed to share 15% of the revenues from our Chase the Ace license which began on November 1, 2024, to be earmarked specifically for the ATV trail development project. We are very excited to add a second ticket sales location in Hillsborough at Cookes Country Store in addition to our established location at Crooked Creek Convenience in Riverside- Albert. Tickets can also be purchased on Friday evenings before the draw from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Fundy Curling Club at 16 Mill Street, in Riverside-Albert. The draw is at 7:30 and is live-streamed on Facebook, you do not have to be present to win. Tickets can also be purchased by e-transfer to ccrcchasetheace@gmail.com. Please include your name, phone number, and from where in NB you are purchasing from. Photos of tickets will be emailed back to you before the event.
